SRE and Star Trade Sign CPPA for 800 MW Formosa 6 Offshore Wind Project

Synera Renewable Energy Group (SRE) announced that it has signed a Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) with international electricity services provider Star Trade (星星電力) for its Formosa 6 offshore wind project (海廣離岸風電計畫). The agreement builds on the companies' green power partnership and marks further progress in project development, highlighting the growing connection between corporate demand for renewable electricity and offshore wind development.
Formosa 6 was awarded 800 MW in the Zonal Development Round 3.2 auction in 2024, making it SRE's 4th offshore wind project in Taiwan. Against a backdrop of shifting global geopolitical and economic conditions and growing emphasis on energy security, renewable energy is increasingly viewed not only as an environmental solution but also as a means of strengthening energy independence and economic resilience. Following their initial collaboration late last year, Star Trade's cumulative contracted capacity across the "Formosa 4" (海盛) and "Formosa 6" (海廣) projects has now exceeded 10% of their combined installed capacity.
SRE Chairman Lucas Lin (林雍堯) said, "Following the successful power sales arrangement for the Haisheng project late last year, we are pleased to see significant progress in the CPPA for Formosa 6. With the firm support of our shareholders, SRE has continued to invest in offshore wind development, construction and operations and maintenance in Taiwan. This long-term commitment reflects not only our dedication to sustainability, but also our efforts to connect market demand with industry partners and turn green electricity into tangible action for sustainable industrial development. By deepening our partnership with Star Trade, we can jointly respond to the growing demand for green electricity among Taiwanese companies and deliver more concrete outcomes for the energy transition."
Formosa 6 is SRE's first project in central Taiwan. Located approximately 35 kilometers offshore from Xianxi Township, Changhua County, the project covers about 84 square kilometers. Once completed and connected to the grid, its clean power generation is expected to meet the annual electricity needs of approximately 860,000 households, providing further support for Taiwan's energy resilience.
