Hai Long Offshore Wind Project Announces Official Launch of Offshore Construction
The Hai Long Offshore Wind Project (hereinafter referred to as the Hai Long Project) held a groundbreaking ceremony today (11th), announcing the official launch of offshore construction. The Hai Long Project has obtained all relevant permits, and important wind farm components are steadily arriving at the main command port. Taiwan's first locally built offshore wind turbine installation vessel, the "Green Jade," will carry out the first phase of construction in the waters off Changhua.

Aboitiz Power, a major power company in the Philippines, commenced construction of the floating Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Maco, Davao de Oro in March 2023. The project, with a capacity of 49 MW, is Southeast Asia's first floating energy storage system installed on an offshore barge and marks Aboitiz Power's inaugural energy storage system project. Named the "Hybrid BESS," the project is situated near the fuel-fired power plant (100 MW) operated by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Therma Marine, Inc. (TMI).

With international fuel prices rising recently, Taipower's finances have been heavily impacted. TOWIA supports reasonable electricity price adjustments, advocating for electricity users to moderately share the internal costs such as generation, transmission, and distribution as external costs like environmental impacts, aiding in the overall decarbonization process of industries and society.

Taipower Set Up Response Center To Closely Grasp The Power Supply Status After The Earthquake
Following the earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter scale that occurred at 7:58 a.m. today (April 3rd, 2024), Taipower promptly established a response center to swiftly assess the condition of the power grid. As of 11:30 a.m. today, reports indicate a total of 354,534 power outages across Taiwan. Subsequently, restoration efforts have successfully reinstated power to over 90 percent of affected households, approximately totaling 342,968 residences. However, approximately 11,566 households remain without power at present.
