Deep Cultivation of Taiwan's Renewable Energy Development
|Wei-Wei Tseng, Chairperson of wpd TAIWAN ENERGY
wpd TAIWAN ENERGY, a German company, wpd has been deeply rooted in Taiwan for over 20 years, developing onshore wind and solar energy, and has a strong connection with the land of Taiwan. wpd will also be constructing its 200th wind turbine in Taiwan this year, and solar energy continues to be developed as both Roof PV Systems and Ground-mounted PV Systems.
Wei-Wei Tseng, Chairperson of wpd TAIWAN ENERGY, expressed that the company's contribution and commitment to renewable energy in Taiwan are profound, and they hope to continue on this path.
"Companies that join the RE100 initiative have a strong demand for green energy but struggle to secure an adequate supply. We sincerely hope that the government and businesses can work together to relax certain restrictions." said Wei-Wei Tseng.
As a developer and supplier of green energy, Wei-Wei Tseng expressed the hope that the government can loosen certain restrictions to enhance the development potential of renewable energy, whether it is related to land use or height limitations. Once these obstacles are overcome, the development of renewable energy in Taiwan will expand to a broader scale and cover more regions. This will enable developers to provide more green energy to businesses and help Taiwan achieve its net-zero emissions target by 2050.
New Concept to Overcome the Bottleneck of Green Energy Procurement -Aggregate PPA (APPA)
Currently, developers of renewable energy projects are turning to Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPA).
In the "Taiwan Renewable Energy Market Briefing Report 2022: Net Zero Goals and Aggregate PPA (APPA)" jointly organized by RE100 and ECCT, a new concept called Aggregate PPA (APPA) is mentioned. APPA will provide a new solution and outlook for corporate green energy procurement.
wpd hopes to collaborate with the government through APPA to overcome the shortage of green energy and jointly achieve Taiwan's Net-Zero target by 2050.
"When we engage in renewable energy development, we rely on financing from foreign banks. These financing banks are concerned about the credibility and sustainability of the power-purchasing companies, and whether they can sustain long-term power purchases for ten or even twenty years. The creditworthiness of the companies is crucial." stated Wei-Wei Tseng.
