Germany's Carbon Credit Revenue Hits Record High, Generating €18.4 Billion in 2023
Germany's government has achieved a new record in revenue from carbon credit sales, contributing €18.4 billion (approximately NT$620 billion) to the national treasury in 2023. This substantial sum will be allocated for the transformation towards a low-carbon economy.

Carbon Credit Sales Aid Rainforest and Indigenous Protection
Great Bear Rainforest in Canada Sets an Example

In Canada's Great Bear Rainforest, local Indigenous guardians, known as "Guardians of the Watchmen," oversee conservation efforts funded by carbon offset income. As the world's largest carbon sink, this rainforest protects pristine forests by selling carbon credits. The revenue from carbon offsets supports the guardians' work, including assisting vessels and monitoring illegal activities. This emphasizes the potential of carbon offsetting as a sustainable development mechanism, showcasing a novel model that could become a global sustainability paradigm.

Taipower's Green Energy Direct Supply Sees a 50% Increase in Volume
In the past, renewable energy providers mostly sold energy to Taipower through the power purchase mechanism. In recent years, with the growth of renewable energy, a decrease in power purchase rates, and increased industry demand, more providers are opting to sell to the private sector. According to Taipower's settlement on the 8th, the volume of green energy directly supplied in 2023 has reached approximately 1.7 billion kWh, growing by over 50% compared to 2022's 1.126 billion kWh.
