|Egypt Signs Land-Use Agreements to Construct 2 of the Largest Onshore Wind Farms in the Middle East
Egypt signed 2 land-use agreements on May 1st of this year for the construction of 2 onshore wind farms in the western region of Sohag, Egypt. The total capacity of the 2 wind farms is 8 GW, and are expected to become the largest onshore wind farms in the Middle East. The signing ceremony was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker, and the Norwegian Ambassador to Egypt. Shaker announced that the project will be developed under the Build-Operate-Own (BOO) model. It is projected to reduce carbon emissions by 17 million tons annually.

|Significant Increase of 30% in Green Trademark Applications in Singapore Over the Past 5 Years
According to preliminary findings from the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), the number of trademark applications for green-related goods and services in Singapore has surged by over 30% in the past 5 years. Out of 28,730 trademarks since 2014, 3,726 (or 13%) are green trademarks. In 2023, there was a comprehensive increase in green trademark applications in Singapore, with innovation related to transportation, climate change, and reusability nearly tripling. IPOS stated that these results indicate a growing recognition among Singaporean businesses of the value of sustainable development and their commitment to innovating solutions.

|Kaohsiung Launches NT$100 Million Program for Zero-Emission Equipment Replacement Subsidies
Kaohsiung City in Taiwan has commenced accepting applications for subsidies to promote industrial development. The total budget is NT$100 million, and the application deadline is July 1st. The subsidy includes interest subsidies for enterprises to upgrade and transition to zero-emission equipment, aiming to encourage industrial upgrading. The eligibility criteria include new investments in strategic industries totaling over NT$30 million or an increase in domestic employment by 30 people or more, in line with the regulations outlined in the Kaohsiung City Self-Government Ordinance for Promoting Industrial Development. Furthermore, eligibility criteria have been relaxed for industries such as digital content, green energy, biotechnology, and medicine, where new investments totaling over NT$10 million or an increase in domestic employment by 10 people or more qualify for application.
