SK ecoplant signed an MOU with BCGE to develop wind/solar project

|SK ecoplant and Vietnamese Renewable Energy Company BCGE Jointly Develop 700 MW Wind and Solar Project

On the 22nd, SK ecoplant announced the signing of a "Vietnam Renewable Energy Business Joint Cooperation and Development Agreement" MOU with the Vietnamese renewable energy company BCGE (Bamboo Capital Group Energy). The 2 companies aim to jointly develop a 700 MW wind and solar project with a combined capacity of 700 MW.

BCGE is currently developing and operating approximately 600 MW of solar power plants and has a wind power scale exceeding 800 MW. Through this agreement, SK ecoplant and BCGE will jointly develop a 700 MW renewable energy project, including 300 MW of onshore wind power, 300 MW of rooftop solar power, and 100 MW of onshore solar power.

Vietnam has been actively increasing renewable energy investments to replace fossil fuels, with energy demand growing by over 10% annually. According to KOTRA, Vietnam's renewable energy generation potential increased from 5.2 GW in 2019 to 21.6 GW in 2023, more than quadrupling in reality. Due to its location in low latitudes, Vietnam enjoys abundant sunlight, resulting in excellent solar power generation efficiency. Additionally, Vietnam's coastline, with an average annual wind speed of over 5m/s, and numerous coastal islands are considered to have enormous wind power potential.
