Formosa 2 Offshore Wind Farm announced on September 8th that it has officially become the first offshore wind farm to achieve commercial operation in Phase 2 of Taiwan's Offshore Wind Project, marking a significant milestone in Formosa 2's transition to the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) phase.

Formosa 2 made steady progress on the offshore wind farm project during the COVID-19 pandemic. In January 2023, all Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) were successfully installed, and all 47 turbines were connected to the Taipower grid by March. This achievement marked a crucial moment in Formosa 2's commercial operation and reinforced the confidence of shareholders and financing groups in the Formosa 2 Offshore Wind Farm project. Formosa 2 maintains fully-equipped O&M offices in both Taichung City and the Port of Taichung, ensuring the wind farm's smooth operation through the collaboration of advanced control centers and a round-the-clock monitoring and maintenance team.

Tiemen Maebe, Director of Offshore Wind at Jera and CEO of Formosa 2, stated, "Formosa 2 is honored to be the first offshore wind farm to obtain a commercial operating permit in Phase 2 of Taiwan's Offshore Wind Project. This achievement signifies our commitment to achieving our energy transition goals. We extend our sincere gratitude to our shareholders, local and governmental authorities, contractors, financial teams, and project members for their contributions on this journey. Formosa 2 is fully prepared to provide Taiwan with long-term and reliable clean wind energy, facilitating the realization of our energy transition."

Throughout the construction process, JERA has demonstrated unwavering commitment and built an experienced and diverse team. With this solid foundation, we will continue to operate Formosa 1 and Formosa 2, providing clean energy to businesses and households in Taiwan while ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of both wind farms. Finally, we sincerely thank all our partners for their support, as this achievement was made possible through our collaborative efforts."

Chairman of Green Investment Group, Macquarie Asset Management Taiwan, Dr. Jeffrey Chen, expressed, "Securing the commercial operation date for Formosa 2 is an outstanding achievement, representing another important step forward in Taiwan's energy transition journey. We are delighted to be a part of it. Together with Corio Generation, we look forward to continuing to drive other wind energy projects and wind farm construction, providing Taiwan with more clean and reliable energy."

Lucas Lin, Chairperson of Swancor Renewable Energy (SRE), commented, "Formosa 2's successful commercial operation ushers in a new chapter for local green energy development. This is the second offshore wind farm in which SRE has been involved and delivered. We are pleased to collaborate with our partners to fulfill our steadfast commitment to our homeland's energy transformation. SRE has been actively involved in various stages of local offshore wind power development, nurturing talent and cultivating strong relationships with all parties involved. We fully demonstrate the critical role of an international developer that understands the local context in advancing projects. Next, we will focus on the timely and high-quality completion of Formosa 4 and participate in the next stage selection for the new wind farm combinations, Formosa 6 and Formosa 7."
