Shinfox Energy Celebrates Earth Day by Partnering with the "Forest Creation Alliance" to Plant Trees and Promote Sustainable Carbon Reduction
Shinfox Energy and its subsidiaries have launched a comprehensive tree-planting and afforestation initiative as part of their sustainable carbon reduction efforts. Ahead of Earth Day, Shinfox Energy completed annual tree-planting operation in a newly established forestation area in Chishang, Taitung (south of the Southern Cross-Island Highway). Shinfox Energy also joined New Taipei City Government's "One Million People Plant One Million Trees" campaign and supported the "Earth Solutions" initiative led by 5% Design Action. The initiative, promoted by Fox Forest and the "Corporate Forest Creation Alliance," emphasizes large-scale afforestation as a nature-based solution.
On April 22, the New Taipei City Government brought together various county and city governments, local residents, and civic organizations to launch the "Plant a Tree for the Earth! One Million People Plant One Million Trees" campaign. Shinfox Energy and its subsidiary Fox Forest actively participated, aiming to promote environmental sustainability and conservation through public-private collaboration. The goal is to make tree planting a national movement, sowing the seeds of sustainability across Taiwan and going global as a global citizen.
Hu Hui-Yun, General Manager of Fox Forest Natural Resources, noted that the company owns nearly 170 hectares of land in Hualien and Taitung. By drawing on the traditional ecological wisdom of Taiwan's Indigenous communities, the company works to protect the growth environment of Taiwan's native forests, creating natural carbon sinks and offering employment opportunities in eastern Taiwan. Their involvement in the New Taipei City campaign helps mitigate the effects of climate change while embedding the concept of natural carbon sinks in the public consciousness and enhancing urban biodiversity.
Sustainability isn't a solo mission! Social design platform 5% Design Action has set its 2025 Earth Solutions theme as "ACTION 365," focusing on eight key issues. It has mobilized over 40 organizations and compiled more than 100 sustainable solutions, fostering cross-sector collaboration among industries, governments, academia, civic organizations, and researchers. This effort aims to connect resources and inform policies, building a concrete blueprint for sustainable action. Fox Forest, together with members of the Corporate Forest Creation Alliance, is initiating a large-scale afforestation strategy as a nature-based solution—launching their own grassroots sustainability design movement.
The Corporate Forest Creation Alliance, driven by Fox Forest, uses Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to address climate change challenges. This helps companies evolve from traditional, one-time tree-planting CSR events into sustainable actions with asset value. Through planning afforestation projects with high carbon sink potential, companies can gain multiple environmental benefits—climate regulation, air purification, water conservation, biodiversity—and acquire high-quality forest carbon credits. These can then be incorporated into carbon management strategies, building a carbon reduction account for long-term sustainability.
The first large-scale project, launched in collaboration with National Property Administration and National Chung Hsing University, kicked off in Chishang, Taitung. It is Taiwan's first national-level voluntary afforestation and carbon reduction project. The initiative will produce both domestic carbon credits and sustainable timber, balancing ecological and economic value. In addition, a biodiversity project is underway in Shoufeng, Hualien, in cooperation with National Taiwan University's Experimental Forest, establishing a forward-looking demonstration forest for biocredits.
Fox Forest calls on more companies to take concrete actions by joining the Corporate Forest Creation Alliance—together we can build a sustainable future and nature positive.
In addition, to celebrate Earth Day on April 22, Shinfox Energy joined the "Go Green, More Clean: Carbon Reduction for Net-Zero Coexistence" campaign, a community initiative launched by SEMI and GESA. Nearly 50 member companies participated, aiming to unite Taiwan's industrial strength, amplify influence on sustainable development, and demonstrate concrete corporate action and commitment to carbon reduction.
