|Republic of Cyprus Approves 2024 Green Shipping Incentives
The Cabinet of the Republic of Cyprus has recently passed updated green incentives for the shipping industry in line with the European Green Deal for 2024. This includes incentives to encourage significant reductions in carbon emissions from vessels, such as a 30% reduction in tonnage tax annually, the use of eco-friendly fuels, enhancements in infrastructure, electrification of vessels, and the adoption of energy-saving technologies to promote sustainable shipping. These measures aim to ensure that Cyprus ships adhere to environmental responsibility standards.
|Digital Transformation: Taoyuan WSD Pioneers Low-carbon Review Model
The Water Supplies Department (WSD) of the Taoyuan City Government in Taiwan has initiated a digital transformation, introducing a new public infrastructure review process. Previously, the review process relied heavily on paper reports, burdening the Earth's environment. The department has taken the lead by adopting cloud-based reviews to replace traditional review methods. This transition is estimated to save approximately 24 million sheets of A4 paper annually, equivalent to reducing 432 metric tons of carbon emissions.
