(L to R): Dr. Koh Chen Ning, Division Director, Process Engineering & Safety, A*STAR ISCE² and Programme Director of LCT³|Mr. Beh Kian Teik, Chief Executive Officer, A*STAR|Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry (Trade)|Mr. Seonghoon Woo, CEO, Amogy|Jermaine Loy, Managing Director, Singapore Economic Development Board.

Amogy, a provider of mature, scalable, and efficient ammonia-to-power solutions, and Singapore's lead public sector R&D agency, the "Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR)" (新加坡科技研究局), announced that Amogy will pilot its ammonia cracking technology at the "Low-Carbon Technology Translational Testbed (LCT³)" (低碳技術轉化測試平台), with support from the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).

Building on the partnership first announced in September 2025, which set a shared objective to decarbonize critical sectors in Singapore such as data centers and heavy industry, the agreement marks the next milestone with a defined first phase of pilot testing at LCT³.

Hosted at the A*STAR Institute of Sustainability for Chemicals, Energy and Environment (ISCE²) on Jurong Island, the national facility bridges laboratory research and commercial deployment, allowing companies to test and scale emerging low-carbon technologies.

The project was announced at the Singapore Industry Decarbonisation Forum (SIDF) on October 23, where LCT3 broke ground. Amogy will be among the first partners undertaking projects at LCT3.

Under the agreement, Amogy will deploy its ammonia cracking module in 2027, designed to produce up to one ton of hydrogen per day, to showcase the technology under industrial operating conditions. Amogy will provide its reformer and catalyst technologies and oversee project execution, while collaborating with A*STAR on the development of next-generation, lower-cost catalysts to improve the economics of ammonia-based hydrogen production over time.

The deployment will generate operating data to support larger-scale deployment of ammonia-based hydrogen and power solutions across Singapore's industrial and energy sectors.

"Singapore is a strategic hub for Amogy's work across Asia-Pacific, where we are strengthening our core R&D capabilities and building our commercial presence," said Seonghoon Woo, CEO of Amogy. "Building on our multi-year collaboration with A*STAR and with the support of EDB, deploying our ammonia cracking module on Jurong Island is about putting our technology to work at a meaningful scale and laying the groundwork for broader commercial adoption across the region, including industrial hydrogen applications and data center power."

The project supports the Sustainable Jurong Island (永續裕廊島) initiative to transform the island into a sustainable energy and chemicals park.

The project will also help assess ammonia-to-hydrogen technology's potential to support reliable, low-carbon power for data centers in the future. Singapore's second Data Centre-Call for Application included a requirement for at least 50% of proposed new capacity to be powered through eligible green energy pathways, including low-carbon ammonia and hydrogen.

"For emerging low-carbon energy technologies, a critical challenge is demonstrating that they can perform reliably at scale and under industrial conditions. This is particularly relevant for technologies that use ammonia as a hydrogen carrier. Our collaboration with Amogy and real-world testing at LCT³ aims to bridge the gap between promising research and industrial adoption, building confidence in their potential for wider deployment," said Professor Lim Keng Hui, Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Science & Engineering Research Council, A*STAR.

"Amogy's collaboration with A*STAR demonstrates how companies can tap on Singapore's strong research capabilities to advance promising low carbon solutions towards industrial application. We welcome Amogy's plans to deepen its R&D presence in Singapore and use Singapore as a base to pursue growth opportunities across the region," said Mr Wey-Len Lim, Executive Vice President, Singapore Economic Development Board.

The deployment is a cornerstone of Amogy's strategic expansion in Singapore. Amogy plans to expand its R&D, business development, and project execution capabilities in Singapore to drive commercial growth across Asia-Pacific. The collaboration with A*STAR is also prompting the establishment of Amogy's first R&D center outside the United States.
