Skyborn Renewables and its partners in Yunneng Wind Power Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Yunneng") announced today (3rd) that the 640 MW Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm has officially commenced full commercial operation. All 80 wind turbines have been successfully installed and connected to the grid, supplying electricity to households and businesses in Taiwan. This milestone marks a significant achievement in Taiwan's offshore wind power and renewable energy industries, paving the way for a sustainable energy future. Yunneng was jointly established and funded by Skyborn Renewables (Skyborn), TotalEnergies, Thailand's Independent Power Producer EGCO Group, and Japan's Sojitz Corporation, responsible for the development and operation of the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm.

As one of the largest offshore wind farms in Taiwan, Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm boasts an installed capacity of 640 MW, capable of supplying green energy to over 600,000 Taiwanese households annually. With an estimated annual power generation of 2.4 TWh (2,400 GWh), it meets 90% of Yunlin County's non-industrial electricity demand while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.2 million metric tons per year. The project, led by Skyborn Renewables, has received unwavering support from all partners throughout its development and construction. The wind farm is scheduled to commence full commercial operation by June 2025, after which TotalEnergies will assume technical operations management, while Skyborn will continue overseeing other aspects of project management.

Patrick Lammers, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Skyborn Renewables, stated: "I am extremely proud to witness the full grid connection and operation of the 640 MW Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm. This project exemplifies Skyborn's commitment and determination to create sustainable value for our partners and society. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Taiwanese government for its steadfast support throughout the project's development."

Senior Vice President of Renewables at TotalEnergies remarked: "We are delighted that the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm has been successfully completed and has reached its planned capacity. This 640 MW wind farm, realized through collaboration among all partners, will contribute to Taiwan’s goal of installing 5.7 GW of offshore wind power by 2025. This achievement is not only a key step for TotalEnergies in reaching our target of exceeding 100 TWh of net electricity generation by 2030 but also provides growth momentum for our integrated power business and free cash flow."

Dr. Jiraporn Sirikum, CEO of EGCO Group, emphasized: "Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm is EGCO Group's first offshore wind power project, and we are thrilled to see it enter commercial operation with a total installed capacity of 640 MW. This success is the result of close collaboration among all stakeholders, efficient construction planning, and excellent project management. We particularly appreciate the strong support from the Taiwanese government throughout the project. This achievement aligns perfectly with EGCO Group’s operational strategy—pursuing business opportunities and profitability while advancing our low-carbon transition."

Takeshi Nishikawa, General Manager of the Energy & Infrastructure Division at Sojitz Corporation, stated: "Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm is also Sojitz Corporation’s first offshore wind power project, and we are honored to witness its full-scale operation. This achievement underscores our firm commitment to 'creating social value' through economic development and environmental protection. We extend our gratitude to all partners, financial institutions, EPC contractors, and stakeholders whose collective efforts made this project possible."

The Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm is located in the Taiwan Strait, 8 to 17 kilometers off Taiwan’s western coast, at water depths ranging from 7 to 35 meters. Spanning a total area of 82 square kilometers, the wind farm consists of 80 turbines, with generated power transmitted to the grid via two onshore substations in Taixi Township and Sihu Township, Yunlin County. Under two 20-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), the electricity is supplied to Taiwan Power Company. The project is backed by a robust syndicated loan consortium established in 2019, comprising both Taiwanese and international banks as well as export credit agencies.
