Shinfox and Fox Forest Win Award for Participation in National Land Carbon Sink Program Through the Forest Creation Alliance

The National Property Administration (NPA) of the Ministry of Finance today (23) held the National Non-Public Land Environmental Sustainability and Net-Zero Carbon Awards Ceremony. Shinfox Energy and Fox Forest Natural Resources (Fox Forest) were presented with Certificates of Appreciation for Joint Improvement and Utilisation in recognition of their collaboration with the NPA and National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) to revitalise national land through new afforestation initiatives and the introduction of carbon sink (credit) mechanisms. The recognition marks a new milestone in Taiwan's efforts to advance sustainable forest management and accelerate progress toward net-zero emissions.
Notably, under the Forest Creation Alliance initiative led by Shinfox Energy and Fox Forest in Chishang Township, Taitung County, a first cohort of leading domestic companies, including TA-YA Electric Wire & Cable, Sinox, Far EasTone Telecommunications, and Yang Ming Marine Transport, were invited to participate in the revitalisation and stewardship of national land. By supporting the introduction of carbon sink (credit) mechanisms on national land, these companies were also awarded Certificates of Appreciation for Joint Improvement and Utilisation, helping to catalyse a growing wave of corporate-led afforestation and voluntary carbon reduction initiatives in Taiwan.
According to Fox Forest, the 71.98-hectare national land in Chishang Township—once a barren, gravel-covered area—has, under the guidance of the NPA and NCHU, been successfully transformed into Taiwan's first demonstration zone for national land revitalisation and domestic carbon credits. To date, approximately 130,000 native tree saplings have been planted, with the project expected to generate an estimated 21,600 tonnes of natural carbon sink, providing a practical model to support the government's broader rollout of carbon sink (credit) mechanisms on national land.

The NPA stated that, in alignment with the government's 2050 Net-Zero Emissions policy, it has been actively promoting both an environmental stewardship (adoption) mechanism for national non-public use marginal land and the introduction of carbon sink (credit) industry mechanisms on national land. These initiatives have received widespread recognition across sectors.
The NPA expressed its particular appreciation to the environmental organisations that have adopted national non-public use marginal land; to the banks that sponsored environmental groups in 2025; to the organisations recommended by environmental groups to assist in the execution of stewardship activities; and to the schools and institutions that participated in the joint improvement and utilisation of two national lands in Sanxing Township, Yilan County, and Chishang Township, Taitung County—all working together to advance national land conservation.
A total of nine environmental organisations were recognised, including the Kaohsiung Wild Bird Society, Taiwan Black-faced Spoonbill Conservation Association, Leopard Cat Association of Taiwan, Society of Wilderness (Taiwan), Taiwan Wild Bird Federation, Wild Bird Society of Tainan, Taiwan Environment and Planning Association, Wetland Taiwan, and the Beautiful Waterways Association. In addition, 12 public and private financial institutions received awards for their sponsorship and support, including Bank of Taiwan, Land Bank of Taiwan, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, Taiwan Business Bank, Hua Nan Commercial Bank, Mega International Commercial Bank, First Commercial Bank, Chang Hwa Bank, Shanghai Commercial & Savings Bank, Fubon Securities, Cathay Financial Holding, and CTBC Bank.
