Hon Hai Technology Group announced on June 4th the establishment of an advanced computing center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in collaboration with NVIDIA. The center will be centered around the super chip GB200 servers, comprising a total of 64 cabinets and 4,608 Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). Completion is anticipated by 2026. Concurrently, Foxtron Vehicle Technologies Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hon Hai Technology, is advancing into the new Qiaotou plant in Kaohsiung, which is set to become one of the group's flagship AI factories.

The Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) continues to thrive, driven by the semiconductor industry led by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). In 2023, STSP's annual revenue reached NT$1.58 trillion, a 6.88% increase. With TSMC investing approximately NT$2 trillion to build 3 new 2 NM plants in Kaohsiung's Nanzi District, the resulting spillover effects have boosted the housing market in northern Kaohsiung. This has led to a noticeable trend of STSP engineers relocating and purchasing homes across Tainan and Kaohsiung. (May 31, 2023)

South Korea aims to achieve 70% carbon-free power generation by 2038, a significant increase from the current level of less than 40% in 2023. According to a recently announced draft of the energy structure for the next 15 years, the plan to add four new nuclear power plants by 2038 remains unchanged, bringing the total number of nuclear power plants to 30. Additionally, the generation capacity from solar and wind energy is expected to rise from 23 GW in 2022 to 72 GW by 2030, more than tripling the current capacity.

Taiwan CPC Clarifies: All LNG Carriers Successfully Docked and Unloaded Without Impact from Chinese Military Exercises
According to media reports, foreign captains refused to traverse the exercise area during the Chinese military exercises conducted on May 23 and 24, resulting in no LNG carriers docking and unloading in Taiwan for 3 consecutive days. CPC Corporation, Taiwan (CPC), clarifies that during the military exercises, 2 LNG carriers successfully arrived and completed unloading as planned. Additionally, 3 LNG carriers also docked and unloaded according to schedule in the three days preceding the exercises. The reported disruptions by external media did not occur.

ECCT Taiwan Emphasizes the Importance of Stakeholder Engagement in Renewable Energy Projects
The European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT) has underscored the significance of stakeholder participation in renewable energy projects. Today (5th), ECCT released the "Taiwan Renewable Energy Industry Challenges - Best Practice Report for Stakeholder Engagement and Permitting." The Stakeholder Working Group compiled this report under the ECCT Wind Energy Committee, which consists of 33 industry experts from 27 domestic and international companies and organizations.
