Vena Energy Honored with Taiwan Sustainability Action Award
Vena Energy Honored with Taiwan Sustainability Action Award

Marking a major milestone in its decade-long commitment to Taiwan's energy transition, Vena Energy, a leading renewable energy company in the Asia-Pacific under the Vena Group, has been recognized with the Taiwan Sustainability Action Award for the very first time.
At the 2025 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action and Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (TSAA) ceremony, organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), Vena Energy received the Bronze Award in the Corporate SDG15 category (Life on Land) with its initiative "Yizhu Power Plant – Coexisting for a Sustainable Future."
Among a total of 503 project submissions, Vena Energy distinguished itself as the only renewable energy company honored this year. Representing the company at the award ceremony, Wen-cheng Lee, Head of Taiwan at Vena Energy, accepted the accolade on behalf of the organization.
Wen-Cheng remarked: "At Vena Energy, we are guided by a philosophy of respecting local communities and coexisting with nature. We have transformed disused salt fields into a model site that integrates renewable energy generation with ecological conservation, turning sunlight into a new source of vitality for the land. Twenty years ago, the site of the Yizhu Power Plant was a desolate salt flat. Today, it has been reborn as a field of green power. We are committed to safeguarding this land with great care, and in time, returning it intact so that it may continue to write new stories for generations to come."
Yizhu Power Plant: A Model of Green Energy and Ecology in Harmony
Located in Yizhu Township, Chiayi County, Vena Energy's Yizhu Power Plant spans 80 hectares and embodies the principle of "coexistence between green energy and ecology." Approximately 30% of the site has been designated as ecological ponds and artificial islands to provide habitats for wetland bird species such as the Black-faced Spoonbill, while the remaining 70% hosts nearly 200,000 solar panels, delivering a stable supply of clean green power.
The facility also houses Taiwan's first privately operated Renewable Energy and Ecology Education Center, themed "The Solar Realm," which showcases the transformation of traditional salt fields into renewable energy hubs. Since its inauguration in 2020, the center has welcomed over 4,000 visitors, fostering environmental education and strengthening community engagement.
In partnership with the Kaohsiung Wild Bird Society and Tunghai University, Yizhu Power Plant conducts long-term ecological monitoring and develops conservation strategies to preserve wetland biodiversity. More than just a power plant, Yizhu stands as a model of environmental education, community collaboration, and industrial transformation — demonstrating the spirit of sustainability where industry, nature, and local communities thrive together, and contributing to a new chapter in Taiwan's energy transition.
A Decade of Commitment to a Sustainable Future
The Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards (TSAA) recognize exemplary initiatives across the region that advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with an emphasis on scalability and demonstrative impact. This year's jury, comprised of international scholars and business leaders, brought diverse perspectives to highlight the award's global outlook and influence.
Since establishing its Taiwan office in 2015, Vena Energy has developed multiple renewable energy power plants over the past decade, consistently translating its ESG commitments into tangible action. Receiving the TSAA for the first time underscores Vena Energy's professional achievements in driving Taiwan's energy transition, while showcasing its concrete practice of fostering harmony between renewable energy development and natural ecosystems.
Looking ahead, Vena Energy remains committed to deepening its presence in Taiwan and working with stakeholders to build a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.
