Sheffield Green, a Singapore-based leader in renewable energy solutions, celebrated the opening of its first "Wind Asia Training Center" in Chiayi County's Ma Chou Hou Industrial Park on October 23. This facility, representing a significant milestone in the company's global training operations, integrates funding, expertise, and technologies from Singapore, the UK, and Taiwan. The center offers "Global Wind Organization (GWO)-certified wind energy training courses" in multiple languages, including Mandarin, English, and Japanese. It will progressively introduce advanced and customized programs to develop skilled professionals for the offshore wind energy sector.

The inauguration ceremony drew over 100 distinguished guests, including domestic and international industry leaders, government officials, global investors, wind energy developers, and supply chain representatives. Notable attendees included Minister without Portfolio and Trade Representative Yang Jen-Ni, Chen Chung-Hsien, Renewable and Prospective Energy Development Division Director, Energy Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), and Chou-Wei Kuo, Deputy Director-General of Chiayi County's Administrative Office, who joined in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event featured guided tours of the facility, live demonstrations of high-altitude training courses, and hands-on experiences with state-of-the-art virtual reality (VR) training equipment from the UK, which received widespread acclaim.

Taiwan's offshore wind power capacity reached nearly 3GW by the end of 2024 and is projected to grow to 20.5GW by 2035 under the government's renewable energy policies, generating a significant number of job opportunities. CEO Bryan Kee of Sheffield Green expressed the company's long-term commitment: "Sheffield Green has been deeply engaged in Taiwan's market for years. Through this training center, we aim to cultivate more wind energy professionals and drive the sustainable development of renewable energy in Taiwan."

Non-Executive Director James Wu, a Chiayi native, further highlighted the importance of local engagement: "It is a privilege to see Wind Asia Training's first facility launch in my and Section Chief Chen's hometown of Chiayi. In addition to serving domestic and international clients, we plan to collaborate with local schools and organizations to open doors for young talents in Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan who aspire to join the global wind energy sector."

Looking ahead, Sheffield Green aims to replicate Taiwan's successful model in neighboring markets, including Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines, to address the growing global demand for skilled renewable energy professionals. Additionally, the company is in the process of acquiring a training facility in Gran Canaria, Spain, to expand its footprint in Europe. Kee confidently stated: "This acquisition will enable us to meet Europe's increasing demand for wind energy expertise, further enhancing our competitiveness in the global renewable energy market."

The Chiayi-based Wind Asia Training Center will commence full commercial operations in January 2025, offering comprehensive GWO-certified courses to organizations and individuals alike.
