|Masdar, SOCAR Green and ACWA Power Join Hands to Develop 3.5 GW Offshore Wind Projects in Azerbaijan
Abu Dhabi's renewable energy firm Masdar has partnered with ACWA Power and SOCAR Green, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan's state oil company, through an MoU to establish 3.5 GW of offshore wind projects in Azerbaijan's sector of the Caspian Sea.

The MoU was signed by leaders from SOCAR, Masdar, and ACWA Power. These projects represent Azerbaijan's inaugural offshore wind farms and align with its ambitions to expand renewable energy, green hydrogen production, and water desalination initiatives. The initiative is expected to bolster Azerbaijan's renewable energy capabilities, creating jobs, enhancing energy security, and supporting its goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.

|Bureau Veritas (BV) Expands Energy Sector Services through Versatec Energy Acquisition
Bureau Veritas (BV) has acquired Versatec Energy, a specialized Dutch technical advisory firm focused on the offshore and onshore energy industry. This acquisition aligns with Bureau Veritas' LEAP | 28 strategy. It highlights the company's dedication to the energy transition and solidifies its role in creating a sustainable and secure energy landscape.

This strategic acquisition broadens Bureau Veritas' service capabilities in critical areas such as oil & gas, nuclear, renewables, especially offshore wind, and low-carbon energy solutions including hydrogen, its derivatives, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).

|U.S. Sets Targets to Triple Nuclear Energy Capacity by 2050
The U.S. has set ambitious targets to expand its nuclear capacity by 2050. Recent commitments at the COP29 emphasize adding new capacity and modernizing reactors. This expansion leverages lessons from past projects and calls for innovative reactor designs and infrastructure collaboration. With supportive policies and streamlined regulations, nuclear energy can continue to boost employment and provide clean energy, positioning the U.S. in net-zero goals.

Federal policies such as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and The Inflation Reduction Act have reinvigorated nuclear energy efforts by providing crucial incentives. New deployment targets announced at the U.N. climate summit aim to expand the U.S. nuclear capacity significantly by 2040, including diversifying reactor types and revitalizing existing facilities to meet growing demand.
