HD Renewable Energy (HDRE), a leading global smart energy company, is participating in the 25th Japan Smart Energy Week in Tokyo starting March 17. At one of Asia's largest and most influential renewable energy exhibitions, the company is showcasing its 3 core solutions—energy storage integration, power trading, and EV charging operations—alongside its latest achievements and strategic deployment in the Japanese market. The 2025 event brings together 1,492 companies from 39 countries, attracting nearly 70,000 visitors.

Marking its third consecutive year at the exhibition, HDRE highlights its expanding footprint in Japan through a comprehensive presentation of its integrated energy strategy. In energy storage integration, the company features its ongoing development of storage and renewable energy projects across Japan, including the operational Helios project in Hokkaido. In power trading, it demonstrates the Star Trade platform and Power Bank model, which combine AI-driven price forecasting with multi-market trading strategies. In EV charging, its subsidiary brand SHUUSTAR presents its smart charging services and platform-based operational model.

The company has set a development target of 3 GW in Japan, with projects spanning Hokkaido, Tohoku, Chubu, Kanto, Kansai, Kyushu, and the Chugoku region. The 50 MW Helios energy storage facility in Hokkaido commenced commercial operation at the end of 2025 and has already participated in the Japan Electric Power Exchange (JEPX). Starting March 18, it will further engage in the Electricity Power Reserve Exchange (EPRX), with plans to enter the capacity market by 2028.

Through the Star Trade platform and its professional trading team, the Helios project is expected to generate approximately NT$400 million (around JPY 2 billion) in electricity trading revenue in 2026. With strong demand anticipated in the energy storage market between 2027 and 2028, annual revenue is projected to increase to nearly NT$500 million (around JPY 2.5 billion).

In the capacity market, HDRE is actively targeting Japan's Long-Term Decarbonization Auction (LTDA). The company became the first Taiwanese enterprise to secure a bid in 2024 with 100 MW, followed by an additional 300 MW in 2025. It plans to bid for 800 MW this year, aiming to capture long-term revenue supported by the Japanese government's 20-year subsidy framework.

Beyond project development, HDRE is strengthening its ecosystem through strategic partnerships. Its subsidiary Star Energy has partnered with Chubu Electric Power Miraiz, one of Japan’s leading electricity retailers, to implement its Power Bank model locally. In addition, the company has established HeLM Aggregation with partners including Mitsubishi Electric, advancing energy aggregation and retail services to support corporate renewable energy procurement and decarbonization.
