Vestas partners with Sinotech to boost Taiwan's local offshore wind power engineering capabilities Vestas to carry out localized engineering of the V236-15MW™ in Taiwan

Vestas announced its collaboration with Sinotech, one of Taiwan's professional engineering consultancies. Sinotech engineers will be working hand-in-hand with Vestas' global engineering teams for a period of at least 18 months, focusing on the upper structure design of the world's most powerful offshore wind turbine - V236-15MW™.
This alliance aims to fortify Taiwan's local wind power industry by imparting unique and specialized wind turbine design expertise. Vestas selected Sinotech for their excellent reputation, strong team and prior experience designing structures for offshore wind, ensuring alignment with the company's rigorous standards.

Vestas' extensive localization efforts in Taiwan are focused not just on manufacturing but also on transferring the skills and knowledge necessary to build a sustainable supply chain. We have helped numerous local suppliers qualify component for offshore wind, trained over 50 service technicians as well as hundreds of blades manufacturing engineers. The next logical step was to engage on the turbine design itself." Says Alex Robertson, General Manager at Vestas Taiwan, "We are delighted to be working with Taiwan's best engineers on this important collaboration to locally design our state-of-the-art turbine upper structure."
In alignment with the collaborative ethos, the partnership will enable Sinotech to contribute over 50% of the cumulative engineering hours, indispensable for site-specific design of each project. Vestas working with suitable talent from Sinotech, deploying them in specialized areas such as structural engineering, load analysis, and tower design. By organizing training workshops and sharing data and engineering software, Vestas aims to maximize the benefits of our collaboration. Through this collaboration, Vestas offers our clients a unique and meaningful way to contribute to Taiwan's wind industry development.
This cooperation is the first of its kind for Vestas. The design skills, being paramount and niche, emphasize the essence of in-depth training and skill transfer. Vestas' commitment, in this regard, is unmatched in any global market or region, reinforcing its dedication to innovation and quality.
"Fengmaio is to be able to serve as a platform where Vestas and Sinotech can embark on this new collaboration," says Claire Lohan, CEO of CIP Round 3 Projects in Taiwan." The project’s localisation proposal plays a key role in supporting the ongoing development of local suppliers."
"Vestas and Sinotech already have experience collaborating on Taiwan Power Company's Offshore Wind Generation Project Phase II, where they joined forces on upper and lower foundation structure design," says Teng-Jen Yang, Senior Assistant Vice President of Sinotech, "Through this further collaboration in the design of the upper foundation structure of offshore wind turbines, Sinotech will attain the additional capability to integrate the design of both upper and lower structures. This ensures that the offshore wind farm design aligns with localized development, keeping the technology rooted in Taiwan, to provide wind farm developers with optimized structural integration designs in the future."
