According to data and analytics company Wood Mackenzie, Singapore can achieve its goal of importing 4 GW of low-carbon power by 2035. In its "Singapore's Quest for Renewable Power" report, Wood Mackenzie recommended that Singapore import electricity from Peninsular Malaysia's large-scale solar and battery energy storage systems or Sarawak's hydropower due to the relatively lower transmission costs associated with these options against other potential markets.

This alliance, convened by Groundswell, is a collaborative project involving the nonprofit Global Optimism, the Systems Change Lab, and the Bezos Earth Fund. Corporate supporters include Unilever, IKEA, and the UK green energy group Octopus EV.

Significant controversy has arisen over land use in the push for national energy transformation and the development of agricultural green energy. Citizen groups, including Taiwan Homemakers United Consumers Co-op, organized a forum on agricultural green energy. Director Lao-Da Jhuang of the Department of Resource Sustainability, Ministry of Agriculture, emphasized the ministry's stance: "agriculture-oriented, with added value from green energy." Facilities not meeting agricultural operational purposes will be required to make improvements within a specified period. Failure to comply may result in simultaneous revocation of agricultural and green energy permits, and the immediate removal of electricity meters.
