|Consultation on UK's Clean Energy Substation Near Chesterfield Opens
National Grid has proposed to build a substation, and a consultation on plans for a new clean energy substation has been launched. This new 400 kV substation is part of the Brinsworth to High Marnham project, which will also include upgrading existing overhead electricity lines, which will be an extension of a current site in Cock Alley, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire, to transport power generated from offshore wind.

National Grid said the substation should be operational by winter 2029. The authority said the Brinsworth to High Marnham project will move energy from offshore wind in Scotland and North East England - which was expected to double within the next 10 years - to the Midlands and beyond.

|JERA and ReNew Partner on Green Ammonia Production Project
Japan's JERA and ReNew E-Fuels Private Limited, a subsidiary of ReNew Energy Global entered into an agreement for the development of a green ammonia production project. Under the agreement, the parties will develop ammonia production in Paradip in the Indian state of Odisha which uses around 500 MW of high capacity utilization (CU) factor renewable energy to produce green hydrogen as a raw material to generate around 100,000 tons of green ammonia annually.

This is in line with the Indian government's schemes to support green hydrogen and ammonia under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. This is also in line with JERA's goal to achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050.
