Taiwan's Ocean Affairs Council (OAC) held a maritime cultural exchange and experiential event in the waters of Dapeng Bay, Pingtung, on Oct. 17–18, bringing together the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) and the Taiwan TAMORAK Cultural and Educational Association (台灣 TAMORAK 文教協會) for their first cross-sector collaboration.

Since establishing its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Taiwan in 2016, Ørsted has become one of the country's major foreign investors, ranking 2nd in cumulative foreign investment. The company has participated in the construction of 199 offshore wind turbines, representing nearly 2 GW of installed capacity.

Aboitiz Power, a major power company in the Philippines, commenced construction of the floating Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Maco, Davao de Oro in March 2023. The project, with a capacity of 49 MW, is Southeast Asia's first floating energy storage system installed on an offshore barge and marks Aboitiz Power's inaugural energy storage system project. Named the "Hybrid BESS," the project is situated near the fuel-fired power plant (100 MW) operated by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Therma Marine, Inc. (TMI).

GE Vernova announced today that its spin-off from GE is complete and it will begin trading as an independent company on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol "GEV," effective at the market opening today. In a first for the NYSE, GE Vernova and GE Aerospace, which also launches as an independent company today, will ring the opening bell together at 9:30 AM ET.

The Taiwan Offshore Wind Industry Association (TOWIA) responded to the recent announcement of Taipower's policy to raise residential and industrial electricity prices, stating that Taiwan's electricity prices have long failed to reflect actual costs. With international fuel prices rising recently, Taipower's finances have been heavily impacted. TOWIA supports reasonable electricity price adjustments, advocating for electricity users to moderately share the internal costs such as generation, transmission, and distribution as external costs like environmental impacts, aiding in the overall decarbonization process of industries and society.

Taipower Set Up Response Center To Closely Grasp The Power Supply Status After The Earthquake
Following the earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 on the Richter scale that occurred at 7:58 a.m. today (April 3rd, 2024), Taipower promptly established a response center to swiftly assess the condition of the power grid. As of 11:30 a.m. today, reports indicate a total of 354,534 power outages across Taiwan. Subsequently, restoration efforts have successfully reinstated power to over 90 percent of affected households, approximately totaling 342,968 residences. However, approximately 11,566 households remain without power at present.
