Taiwan's Ocean Affairs Council (OAC) held a maritime cultural exchange and experiential event in the waters of Dapeng Bay, Pingtung, on Oct. 17–18, bringing together the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) and the Taiwan TAMORAK Cultural and Educational Association (台灣 TAMORAK 文教協會) for their first cross-sector collaboration.

Since establishing its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Taiwan in 2016, Ørsted has become one of the country's major foreign investors, ranking 2nd in cumulative foreign investment. The company has participated in the construction of 199 offshore wind turbines, representing nearly 2 GW of installed capacity.

Research from the university's School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering demonstrated that when AI and machine learning tools are employed in carbon capture systems, they could capture 16.7% more carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere and use 36.3% less energy from the UK's National Grid.

Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries is set to issue transition bonds, with funds raised through public offerings of these bonds domestically within Japan to be used for projects related to the clean transport and storage of hydrogen and clean energy utilization of hydrogen. Specific solutions include liquefied hydrogen carriers, liquefied hydrogen storage tanks and hydrogen gas turbines for power generation. Kawasaki announced its first transition bond issuance as a means of financing via the fund-raising framework "Master Framework Agreement (MSA) [1]," which the company established in November 2023. The bond issuance amounts to ¥10 billion ($68.55 million), with the issuance period planned for February 2024. The bond term is 5 years.

Ørsted Taiwan Launches "Sustainable Innovation Accelerator" Nurturing Talents for Wind Industry
Ørsted launched the "Sustainable Innovation Accelerator (SIA)" competition today (18) in collaboration with the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC). The competition seeks innovative proposals related to the offshore wind industry. Teams that qualify will receive activation funds and one-on-one guidance from experts in the wind energy sector to optimize their proposals. The winning team can receive a maximum prize of NTD 500,000. Submissions are open from now until April 30.

According to Turkey's Daily Sabah, Turkey is planning to expand its natural gas storage infrastructure and elevate its storage capacity to become the third-largest in Europe in the coming years.
Europe's natural gas storage capacity is approximately 1 trillion cubic meters, with Germany at the top with 240 billion, followed by Italy at 160 billion. Drawing from its rich natural gas experience, Turkey aims to surpass multiple nations by reaching a storage capacity of 14.4 billion cubic meters by 2028, making it the third-largest storage nation in Europe.

The impact assessment involves the formulation of evaluation plans and public opinion response assessments.
