Economic Affairs Minister Kung Ming-hsin and Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung jointly convened an inter-ministerial meeting today (21 November) to discuss geopolitical risks and the ongoing restructuring of global supply chains. Both ministries agreed that, amid accelerating economic realignment and rising geopolitical uncertainty, Taiwan must integrate its trade and diplomatic resources to build a resilient and sustainable industrial ecosystem.
Minister Kung noted that global industrial deployment is shifting rapidly, with multinational companies diversifying investments across ASEAN, Central and Eastern Europe, India, Mexico, and other emerging regions. Taiwanese enterprises, responding to customer requirements and international market trends, are likewise establishing production bases overseas. He emphasized that the Ministry of Economic Affairs will continue to advance its core strategy of "rooted in Taiwan, deployed globally, and marketed worldwide"—enhancing domestic investment conditions and R&D capacity while helping industries seize overseas opportunities and strengthening the development of international industrial parks.
During the meeting, the two ministries reaffirmed plans to deepen coordination between Taiwan’s economic and diplomatic efforts by integrating government, industry, and overseas missions. This includes accelerating the development of overseas science parks and industrial clusters, and supporting Taiwanese companies in securing favorable investment conditions and policy backing abroad. Both ministries underscored their commitment to fostering Taiwan’s role as a trusted global economic partner and driving industrial upgrading and sustainable national development through open, pragmatic collaboration.
