Taiwan's Ocean Affairs Council (OAC) held a maritime cultural exchange and experiential event in the waters of Dapeng Bay, Pingtung, on Oct. 17–18, bringing together the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST) and the Taiwan TAMORAK Cultural and Educational Association (台灣 TAMORAK 文教協會) for their first cross-sector collaboration.

Since establishing its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Taiwan in 2016, Ørsted has become one of the country's major foreign investors, ranking 2nd in cumulative foreign investment. The company has participated in the construction of 199 offshore wind turbines, representing nearly 2 GW of installed capacity.

While methane may have a shorter lifespan in the atmosphere, its greenhouse effect is more substantial than carbon dioxide, making it the second-largest contributor to global warming and a crucial factor in climate change. The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) states that 60% of methane emissions are attributed to human activities, especially those from the fossil fuel industry. Countries like the European Union and the United States have initiated a global methane pledge, aiming to reduce methane emissions by 30% by the end of 2030.

Taipower's NT$62.8 Billion Green Energy Project Draws Attention – Changhua Prosecutors Launch Investigation
The coastal waters of Changhua County are recognized as one of Asia's prime locations for green energy wind farms. However, renewable energy developers face challenges from opportunistic "environmental extortionists" who engage in "rent-and-abandon" schemes. The Changhua District Prosecutors Office is in dialogue with Taiwan Power Company (Taipower/TPC) and green energy developers to establish a collaborative platform to combat crimes hindering the development of the green energy industry in Changhua. This platform will integrate intelligence and investigative capabilities to deter unlawful elements eyeing the green energy sector.

Conservative Groups Sue to Stop Dominion's CVOW Project
A nonprofit conservative watchdog group based in Falls Church filed a lawsuit Monday against Dominion Energy, the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the U.S. Department of the Interior and other government bodies, aiming to stop construction of Dominion's offshore wind farm expected to begin this spring 27 miles off the Virginia Beach coast.

In 2023, Germany saw a significant 10.1% reduction in total greenhouse gas emissions, marking the most significant annual decrease since 1990. This reduction can be partly attributed to adjustments in energy structure and an increase in the proportion of renewable energy sources. However, emissions from transportation still fail to meet reduction standards, while the construction sector exceeds legally permitted emission levels. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) urges accelerating electric vehicle adoption and eliminating subsidies harmful to the climate. Although some reductions stem from industrial production cuts, they also reflect the impact of economic and political crises.
